To Jeanie, My Love, My Beauty, My Soul...

Jeanie...

Isn't it amazing that when God brings two people together, He starts when they are born. Little did I know that this little girl would grow to be my wife...

Me...

And here I am, awaiting her in December of 1960.

What brings people together? Some say coinsidence, others say happenstance, while others are prone toward fate. I prefer destiny, God's destiny for us. How is it that two people from totally different backgrounds, families, and environments come together? Jeanie was in Des Moines, Iowa; I was in Denver, Colorado-we met in Minot, North Dakota!

Ahh, college life...

In 1978 I, being a Sophomore in college at Northwest, waited with baited breath for the new crop of Freshmen women to arrive; and among them, a striking Iowa girl. We danced the dance of flirtation and glanced at each other now and then; she at my dark, rugged hansomeness and me at her incredible smile and legs! But we didn't date, no not nary an ice cream cone. And alas, she needed to return to Indiana where they were living for a time...

But as they say, I never forgot her..

Enter: Little Brother Joe.

Little brothers are good for something sometimes and Joe was exceptional. Ne lived a floor above me in the dorm and happened to be Jeanie's younger brother. He called me Lou and I called him Arnold. Back then, I was Lou Ferrigno and he Arnold Swarzenegger. And inbetween pumping iron in the weight room, I would stop by Joe's room to look in his mirror.

Strange? No not really because there were photos of the Iowa girl who was his sister on the corner of his mirror and I would nonchalantly ask: "How's your sister doing?"

This is one of the photos I fell in love with:

Yes, Honey, I put it out there !

Joe knew something was up and I started keeping in touch with Jeanie through the magic of the US Postal service. For you youngsters, that's letters, envelopes, stamps and snail mail...

I still have them.

God and destiny smiled on me and Jeanie returned to school my Senior year.

Well folks, the rest as they say: Is History.

Man's Favorite Sport with Rock Hudson and Paula Prentiss on on the Tele and...

I asked her out May 26th 1981 and we were Married July 23, 1981!

I guess it took because as of July 23, 2008 it will be 27 years !!!!

Ahh, the Flashdance years... Good times!

I love her and she loves me and we are still best friends. She is still the one I love you come home to. And the person that I most like to spend my time with. And the kids and grandkids too!

Honey, I love you, thank you for understanding my ups and downs and ins and outs for 27 years. Thanks for the space when I needed to write and being upfront when you needed to be. Thank you for your love and passion and bringing my five incredible children into the world and enabling us to have 5 grandchildren! We have had hard times and prosperous times, we have been through heaven and hell together. In sickness and in health, I honor you and love you and cherish you. Thank you for your commitment to Christ and living a life of service for Him.

You are mine, I am yours, we are Christ's.

Thank you for being mine all these years...
